AsiaPharm net profits slip 7% to 83.7m yuan

ASIAPHARM Group, a pharmaceutical group in China, said net profit for FY2006 was 83.7 million yuan (S$16.7 million), a decline of 6.6 per cent, as revenue fell 10.5 per cent to 308.3 million yuan. The company said market conditions were challenging, but the lower revenue reflected the group's efforts to reduce lower-margin business to focus more on R&D and sales of higher-margin proprietary products.
